Russia will become a WTO member country on August 23

The Secretary of the Russian Economic Development trade Maxim announced that that Russia will officially become a WTO member country on August 23.

He disclosed that Russia have completed their domestic ratification procedures of the Accession Protocol and on the same day issued a notice to the WTO. Under WTO rules, 30 days, August 23, Russia will officially join the WTO.

July 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a federal bill on the ratification of Russia's accession to the WTO Protocol. July 10, the Russian State Duma (lower house) approved Russia's WTO accession protocol. July 18, the Russian Federation Council (Upper House) approved the protocol.

Submit a application for accession to the WTO in 1993, Russia formally began accession negotiations in 1995. December 16, 2011, the Eighth Ministerial Meeting of WTO adopted a decision on Russia's accession to the WTO, the formal inclusion of Russia's accession to the WTO.
